Mike Lobel, the actor who plays heartless Jay Hogart on "Degrassi: The Next Generation," apologizes on behalf of his fictional alter ego.
Lobel unflinchingly laid out the qualities that make Jay so despicable. He's an opportunist. He stirs up conflicts among his fellow Degrassi High School students. He manipulates people to get what he wants. And he wants it all -- success, girls, money.
"We do see he has some kind of compassion, even though it's weird and twisted," Lobel said.
However, the actor maintains that he is nothing like his character in real life. That's a good thing, in my opinion. I wouldn't mind if I wrote a fictional story about his Degrassi character as a New Mutant from X-Men: Evolution (I love that show too) and he read it. I believe that he would love the idea, and help me out a bit.

Jay is one of my favorite Degrassi characters. I am bummed that he gets so little screen time.

I never watched DeGrassi but I always tended to unconsciously assume that actors were like their characters. For the longest time, I hated the guy who played Biff on Back to the Future (and he also played the gym teacher on Freaks and Geeks) till I found out that off camera, he's not only really sweet and nice, but apparently very multi-talented.
There's still a little part of me who hates the girl who played Full House's Gia. (And Cokie in the BSC movie.) She just does bitchy so well!
When I first Watch Degrassi The next generation Episodes, I thought how they all seemed to be really good at acting. The first episode was kind of embarrassing for me, but I fell in love with the show. This is an amazing teen drama that should be recommended watching for all teens.Some of the episodes are more intense than others, which is just like teen life.I absolutely love this show. It's so real, and so easy to relate to, it's a great show for teens.
Degrassi is a great show for teens as well as adults.Once you start Watch Degrassi the next generation episodes online show, you start to think how much your life relates to it. You begin bonding with this show.Degrassi is a great show for teens and even though it is entertaining.
I am in love with jay!! he's so cute, and funny! He can be sweet though, instead of a badass. I wish he was a bigger part in the show.
